Asking The Right Questions

In today’s mini-blog post we explore an idea that has come up in recent discussions and look at how asking the right questions often leads to the right results.

Whilst at first glance asking the right questions may seem like a rather simple concept, it can be a deceptive one indeed. Why is it important to ask the right questions? Well, firstly there is something of a misnomer in the idea of asking the right questions. We believe that every question is, in a way, right and it is more about the very act of asking questions rather than the asking right ones that we are exploring. Whenever we begin a new relationship and new campaign with a client we seek to understand their brand, their objectives and gain an insight into the stakeholders involved. Without asking questions and without creating an ongoing dialogue it would be almost impossible to understand their needs, business and goals.

Asking questions broadens the understanding between the client and our teams. Many businesses and agencies can get stuck in the ‘what’ and ‘how’ but often ignore that all important question - why? 

The ‘what’ and ‘how’ are, of course, very important. However the ‘why’ is the reason that you are bringing your business, services and products to market. Some of the most successful campaigns that we have produced have been rooted in this ‘why’. Why will a potential client choose what we have to offer? Why would an existing client return to us? The ‘why’ can help to cut through jargon and get directly to the heart of the business in question and leaves no room for misunderstanding.

Articulating and developing a strategy is a fundamental part of creating compelling digital marketing campaigns that resonate with the target markets. And, in order to create such strategies, not only do our teams have to understand what the business is about but a business that truly knows itself, that understands its limits as well as potential, is one that can flourish. 

Great questions come from having great discussions and can lead to a very organic evolution in ideas and understanding.
